Musing Mondays is a meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading
This weeks question is:Do you set goals for yourself, while reading? For example, “I want to get this book finished this weekend“, or “I will read __ pages today“, etc. Why, or why not?
I actually do not set goals for myself. I used to before I began my crazy work schedule, but for the past few years my days have unexpected twists and turns. Between working full time, school, and my social life, reading is sometimes something I'm just daydreaming about doing. I've gone days without reading a word. I really wish I could set goals, and hopefully in a few years I'll have a normal work schedule and school will be over so I can focus on reading. Reading is honestly my favorite hobby and its really hard when I have to go days without reading, but I still manage to read the books I want and work off my college debt. I guess I've got it pretty good.
Crazy work schedule...see ya and raise ya two days of overtime! No, no goals for me, a recipe for failure.
ReplyDeleteCaite, that's exactly why I don't set goals. The failure always stings. I'd adore having the time to dedicate to my reading (and my blog), but the point of working so much is actually reach those life goals. Anyway, maybe one step at a time, we can both reach that goal-setting stage :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also in the crazy work schedule category! hello work at 9 am sometimes earlier, and hello home at past 7 pm. yay overtime?
ReplyDeleteI understand those days where you don't read a word.. I definitely have them too! It's why it takes me so long to get through books sometimes.
I love dahl as well :) good inspiration from your blog. it's very cute! thanks for stopping by! i look forward to reading more from you zooey.
Thanks Aspen! It's encouraging to know I'm not the only one who couldn't meet a goal if I'd tried. Unless "finish this book before you die" is a goal, then im actually doing pretty good.
